Behan Partnership ltd is an established and leading consultancy with the head office in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.


Our consultancy was formed by Mark Behan in 2007. A Chartered Building Surveyor and formerly a partner of a leading London Surveying Practice, Mark has over 20 years experience in the property industry, is an expert in neighbourly matters and specialises in providing Party Wall Act, Crane and Scaffolding Agreements, Rights to Light, Daylight and Sunlight advice and Studies. He is also the author of numerous articles including the current 6th Edition of the RICS Guidance Note for its members on Party Walls and the RICS Guidance Note for Daylight and Sunlight published in October 2012. Mark also sits on the RICS Boundary & Party Wall Practice Panel.


Together with his business partner Louise Polledri, also a Chartered Building Surveyor whose area of expertise is Project Management and Building Surveying services, we utiliise this combined experience to provide a professional, proactive and prompt service tailored to the individual needs of our clients.


Our expanding team of surveyors and CAD technicians support the Partners with their expert knowledge and technical skill, ensuring that all projects meet and exceed client expectations and deliver the highest level of quality and service.


The Team


Louis Maycock BSc (Hons) PGDiP (Sur)


Louis joined the firm in 2014. With over 10 years of experience of general practice including Contract Administration, Party Wall Advice and Project Management for both high end residential and commercial projects, Louis now streamlines his wealth of experience as our Senior Party Wall Surveyor.  With extensive knowledge of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 Louis has developed a pragmatic approach in dealing with straightforward and complex disputes.  Louis is very much a people’s person and away from the office enjoys voluntary work with his local church, long rides on his motorbike and frequent weekend ‘adventure’ trips abroad.


James Davidson BSc (Hons)

James has spent over 8 years specialising in Party Wall and Neighbourly Matters. He started his career at Wilks Head & Eve where he mainly represented UKPN, Howard de Walden Estate and London & Regional. After graduating at Kingston University he joined GIA where he provided a valuable service in assisting the Partners before moving on to handling his own prestigious projects, such as South Bank Tower (CIT), New Scotland Yard (Northacre), Rathbone Place (Great Portland Estates), Project Gateway (Crown Estate), One Creechurch Place (Helical PLC), Vicarage Gate House (Northacre), 23 & 25-28 Buckingham Gate (Dukelease), 4-24 Torwood Street (THAT Group) and many more. His hard work, professionalism and graft make him a valuable addition to the team.   Being the social chameleon that he is, James has an ever changing list of hobbies. He is a gifted racer and loves everything related to Formula 1. He follows rugby (Harlequins) and has recently taken up rock climbing. He has now been accepted into the 2018 London Marathon and tries to spend as much time training for the dreaded day!


Lewis Piasecki BSc (Hons) MFPWS

Lewis is the newest member of our team and has over 9 years’ experience as a Building surveyor and has spent the past 7 years specialising in The Party wall etc. Act 1996 and neighbourly matters including Access licences and Scaffold or Oversail licences.   Having worked for Anstey Horne and David Maycox & Co, Lewis has worked on a number of high profile developments including One Tower Bridge, Cotswold Mews, 61-65 Charlotte Street and most recently the last major development on the Isle of Dogs (to the North side of Westferry Road).  Lewis has vast amount of experience with acting as both Building Owners’ surveyor plus Adjoining owners’ surveyor and is happy to proficiently discharge either role.  In his spare time, Lewis enjoys playing golf at Harpenden Common GC and has a season ticket at Tottenham Hotspur which doesn’t go down well with Mark or Louis (active Arsenal).


Graham Fox, Martin Fox and Mark Geddert are our expert CAD technicians with over 40 years experience in the industry. 


RICS Guidance Note “Party Wall Legislation and Procedure”

Mark Behan is a member of the working group that produced this important guidance note. This guidance note provides advice to surveyors who accept instructions in circumstances where the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may be relevant.
It looks at circumstances where the Act will apply as well as the procedures to be followed where it does. It contains all the specimen forms and letters that are required in this area of work.


RICS Guidance Note “Daylighting and Sunlighting”
Mark Behan is a member of the working group that produced this guidance note. This guidance note provides advice to surveyors who accept instructions to advise on daylight, sunlight and shadow calculations for developments. It explains the different types of assessment available, reporting procedures and the roles that the Chartered Surveyor will need to perform.
